How to files save in computer without downloading

How can I save images/documents to my computer WITHOUT OneDrive being in the link? I have disabled OneDrive but this has made no difference. I can't send images etc. as attachments, they are received as links. A lot of people cannot open them. I want to save images/docs to my PC, I don't want anything to do with the Cloud.
